Easy Brioche French Toast

I’m writing this recipe because this is what my mom used to make me every single Friday when I was growing up.

I absolutely love French toast by itself, but I know that my family loves toppings.

Indulge in this rich and buttery Brioche French Toast that’s crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with warm, sweet flavors.

I buy my Brioche from Whole Foods which is also available on Amazon!

This is perfect for a weekend brunch or a special breakfast treat!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices brioche bread (preferably a day old)

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup whole milk (or heavy cream for extra richness)

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, but recommended)

  • A pinch of salt

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for cooking)

  • Toppings (Optional, but delicious!)

  • Toppings – Optional
  • Maple syrup

  • Powdered sugar

  • Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

  • Whipped cream

  • A sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  • Dip each slice of brioche into the batter, allowing it to soak for 10-15 seconds per side. Be careful not to oversoak, as brioche is delicate and absorbs liquid quickly.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the butter. Cook each slice for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Plate your French toast and top with maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, or whipped cream for a decadent finish.

  • I am currently using this non-stick pan to make my French toast, it’s awesome!

Notes:

Use day-old brioche – Fresh brioche can get too soggy. If your bread is fresh, lightly toast it before soaking it if you want it to retain more of the custard.
Don’t skip the cinnamon – This adds warmth and depth to the flavor.
Cook on medium heat – Too high, and the outside burns before the inside is cooked. Too low, and it won’t get crispy.

Storage & Reheating

Reheat: Warm in a toaster, oven, or skillet for crispy results. I prefer warming it on a skillet!
Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Freeze: Place in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze for 1 hour, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months.
